Systems Developer

At Future, we are in search of talented developers to join our great development team to work on cool web sites, mission critical web services and innovative web applications. As a Systems Developer working in our Bath office, you will be part of a fantastic team developing our great platform built on a service oriented architecture. You will write highly optimised code for our web services that deliver hundreds of millions of page views per month globally; design and implement truly innovative web applications as part of the platform; apply your web expertise to bring adaptive/responsive web sites to life.

You will work closely with the rest of the team to ensure delivery of top quality code packages, carry out pair programming tasks, write automated acceptance test plans, run profile measurements on our software and top up our wiki with relevant documentation of both your own code, and that of team mates, to ensure that these meet required standards. You will spend time troubleshooting bugs and be keen to take part in our internal hack days.

 About you:

• You are an expert in PHP; write beautiful, solid, optimised object-oriented code 
• You know your web stack from JavaScript back to the database / NoSQL; you also know how the web works
• You understand what makes systems scalable and resilient
• You have worked on making web sites/applications beautiful 
• You have proven track record on successfully delivering web services and/or web applications
• You are able to communicate technical information to non-technical people as needed
• You are looking for a challenging role where you will be excited to learn and be passionate about software delivery
• You are not afraid of the command line!
